FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas – The Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Clear Creek Exchange will honor National Vietnam Veterans Day with a Vietnam Veterans pinning ceremony at 11 a.m. March 29 for veterans who served from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, at the Clear Creek Exchange, Bldg. 4250, parking lot.
All veterans regardless of branch of service who served during this time period are eligible to receive a commemorative Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin.
Vietnam-era Veterans were often not properly welcomed home, and for many of these service members, these ceremonies are the first time they are being thanked publicly for their service. The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has been a Commemorative Partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration since 2013, planning and conducting events and activities that recognize Vietnam Veterans and their families for service, valor and sacrifice. The program is administered by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Media interested in attending the presentation should contact Trey Williams at (254) 289-5967 for instructions on gaining access to the installation.
