FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – In response to recent adverse weather conditions, Fort Cavazos officials have taken proactive steps to prioritize public safety. Effective immediately, the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area will be closed until further notice.
High water levels and significant damage, including downed trees, structural impairment, and playground hazards, has rendered the park unsafe for recreational use. Fort Cavazos is committed to ensuring the well-being of all visitors, and this decision reflects our dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment. Any pending RV or cabin guest reservations should call the main BLORA office at (254) 287-2523, for park access and service status prior to arriving.
Furthermore, to address safety concerns throughout the Fort Cavazos range area, several range roads have been subject to closures and traffic control measures. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and adhere to all posted guidelines. Notably, West Range Road, East Range Road, and AAA Road may experience reduced lanes and traffic diversions due to water accumulation and debris.
As we navigate these challenges, Fort Cavazos officials urge motorists to prioritize safety at all times. Remember, if encountering flooded roadways, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” remains a critical safety protocol. Additionally, please exercise extreme caution around downed power lines and avoid contact with sparking wires.
Fort Cavazos remains vigilant in monitoring the situation and will provide updates regarding the reopening of BLORA and the status of range road closures as conditions improve.
