FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — Fort Cavazos’ Directorate of Emergency Services re-opened West Range Road between Elijah and Manning Mountain roads due the wild land fires are now somewhat contained and moving away from the road.

A fire in the House Creek area has burned more than 75 acres and is currently 85% contained. The fire is moving in a northwesterly direction.

A second fire in the Clabber Creek area has burned more than 400 acres and is currently 70% contained also moving in a northwesterly direction.

The Fire Department will monitor the situation overnight and conduct offensive and defensive efforts to suppress and contain the fires as necessary.
