FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The grand opening of the National Mounted Warrior Museum will begin with a ceremony on Sept. 18, at 9:30 a.m., in front of the NMWM which is located behind the Marvin Leath Visitor Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be hosted by Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Paul E. Funk, President of the National Mounted Warfare Foundation, and Brig. Gen. Geoff R. Van Epps, deputy commanding general of III Armored Corps.
The ceremony will be followed by a tour of the museum including the many interactive multimedia exhibits which highlight the evolution of the Army’s mounted warfare, the accomplishments of the men and women who have served in the United States Army and III Armored Corps, and the notable military conflicts which shaped our nation.
The NMWM will officially open to the public on Sept. 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be free to visit.
Media wishing to attend this event should RSVP with usarmy.cavazos.iii-corps.list.pao-internal@army.mil by 12 p.m. on Sept. 17. Media attending should meet in the south side parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitor Center at 69004 T.J. Mills Blvd. no later than 8:45 a.m. on the morning of Sept. 18.
