MULTIPLE FIRST TEAM UNITS HEADED TO EUROPE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT CAVAZOS – The Department of the Army announced today the upcoming spring deployment rotation of the 1st Cavalry Division and subordinate units to Europe.
The 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters will replace the 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters in command of a regular rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to NATO allies and partners. Also deploying as part of the rotation are the First Team’s 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “IRONHORSE”, the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery “RED TEAM”, the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade “AIR CAV” and the 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade “WAGONMASTERS”, who will replace the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division Artillery, the 1st Infantry Division Combat Aviation Brigade, and the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, respectively.
“This is a great opportunity to demonstrate the First Team’s readiness and clearly highlights and reinforces America’s military commitment, which I know every trooper will embrace with professionalism and dedication,” said Maj. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, commanding general of the 1st Cavalry Division. “The 1st Cavalry Division is set and focused on strengthening bonds with our NATO allies through tough, realistic training.”
Approximately 5,500 1st Cavalry Division troops and over 2,000 pieces of equipment will travel halfway around the globe to take part in joint and multinational training while supporting NATO allies and partners in the region.
All units are part of a planned rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to NATO allies and partners.
