FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Brigadier General Thomas C. Friloux will present troopers from Regimental Support Squadron, 3d Cavalry Regiment, with the Humanitarian Service Medal here Sept. 30.
The Humanitarian Service Medal was created Jan. 19, 1977 by President Gerald Ford and is awarded to any member of the United States military who distinguishes himself or herself by meritorious direct participation in a significant act or military operation.
Troopers from the Regimental Support Squadron deployed to Louisiana on Sept. 3 and returned to Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Sept. 20.
While deployed, the troopers supported Federal Emergency Management Agency and Defense Security Cooperation Agency relief efforts, providing much-needed aid to the people and communities of Louisiana.
