FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas— The 3rd Cavalry Regiment is scheduled to hold a change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. July 13 on Cameron Field here.
Col. Kevin D. Admiral, 3rd Cavalry Regiment commander, will relinquish command to Col. Jonathan Byrom. Byrom will become the 77th Colonel of the Regiment.
Byrom, an Armor officer, comes to Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) after serving as the operations officer for the 1st Infantry Division. This will be Byrom’s second time serving with the Brave Rifles. He previously served as a squadron commander in 3rd Squadron “Thunder.”
Admiral, the 76th Colonel of the Regiment, assumed command Aug. 12, 2015. He successfully deployed the 3rd Cav. Regt. to Afghanistan from May 2016 through Feb. 2017. He will leave Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) to be the executive officer to the United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea commander.
