III Armored Corps Invites Media to Observe Gunnery Exercise
FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — III Armored Corps is inviting media to observe a gunnery exercise with the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, on Nov. 20. The event will feature live-fire qualifications using the Paladin M109A7 artillery system.
This media day will offer opportunities to photograph and film artillery fire at the battery level. Accredited media wishing to attend should RSVP by emailing iiicorpspaoops@army.mil no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19. A public affairs representative will meet attendees at the Marvin Leath Visitors Center on T.J. Mills Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 20 for an escort to the training site.
The M109A7, the newest member of the M109 family, is the primary indirect fire support system for Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCTs). The upgraded chassis design enhances survivability and improves compatibility with existing systems, helping reduce operational costs by replacing outdated components. The M109A7 is a key component of the Army’s efforts to maintain the combat readiness of its ABCTs.
