FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – U.K. Maj. Gen. Andy Cox assumed duties as deputy commanding general – support of III Armored Corps from U.K. Maj. Gen. Ben Cattermole during a ceremony April 30 here.
“Maj. Gen. Cattermole went above and beyond to keep this corps moving forward, and ensuring we lived up to being ‘America’s Hammer,'” said Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, commanding general, III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos. “[He] has always led from the front, and the III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos are better for it.”
Cattermole joined III Armored Corps as the sixth deputy commanding general – support from the U.K. May 5, 2023. Since commissioning into the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in 1996, he has served in numerous positions and in locations including Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Despite being thousands of miles from my homeland, I have been at home,” said Cattermole. “I will forever remember these two very special years, with such amazing people, and I am proud to have been a Phantom Warrior.”
Cox most recently served as the chief of staff of the U.K. Standing Joint Command. This is his second assignment with III Armored Corps, having previously served as the deputy commanding general – maneuver at 1st Armored Division from 2020 to 2022.
“I promise to work tirelessly to build and strengthen that bond between our two great armies,” said Cox.
