<Instead of May flowers blooming in Central Texas, moving boxes will suddenly “bloom” all over Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) as peak PCS season hits the Great Place once again.
While a permanent change of station is not always the most enjoyable part of Army life, it does not have to be as difficult as people expect. Donny Lenore, personal property chief with the Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Transportation Office, offered some tips to relieve the stress of a PCS move.
Lenore said a lot of people have a presumption that they cannot make an appointment for their household good pick-up until they receive their clearing papers, but that is not the case.
“Once you receive your orders you can actually go to move.mil and there are videos on there on how to sign up for a DPS (Defense Personal Property System) account,” he explained. “Then, once you go into the system, you can submit your application and turn your documents into the Transportation Office.”
