FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Officials from Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) released the following information June 28 regarding the ongoing efforts to locate Spc. Abram Salas II. Salas is a Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Soldier who went missing June 23, when he failed to report for duty.
At this time, Spc. Salas remains in an “Absent-Unknown” duty status.
Multiple military and civilian law enforcement agencies both on and off Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) continue to search for Salas including Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos)’s Directorate of Emergency Services, Texas Rangers, Bell and Coryell County Sheriff Departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, as well as local area police departments.
Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Department of Emergency Services continues to lead all information documentation involved with attempts to locate Salas.
Salas is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a 4-door, white Dodge Dart with a Texas license plate NFP-2796.
Initial investigation appears that Salas left for unknown reasons on his own accord and reliable credible information exists that he may be in the San Antonio area.
Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) officials continue to communicate with Salas’ family and friends.
“Spc. Salas is a valued member of our team. This absence is out of character for him and has us concerned. Our number one and only priority is locating Spc. Salas and ensuring his safe return. We are in regular contact with Spc. Salas’s family and continue exhausting every avenue available to us to find our valued teammate.
