FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas – Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) officials have released the name of a Trooper who died May 22 due to an off-post motor vehicle accident.
Spc. Tristan E. Cooley, a 24-year-old who joined the U.S. Army in October 2019 as a Cavalry Scout assigned to 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1CD. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
“Spc. Tristan Cooley was a valuable member of the GARRYOWEN Team. We are deeply saddened by the loss of an incredible Trooper and Teammate,” said Lt. Col. Brennan Speakes, Commander of the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment. “We extend our deepest sympathies to Spc. Cooley’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this time of mourning and reflection.”
The incident is under investigation and the unit leadership will continue to provide support and assistance to his family.
