FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) residents are reminded that the fall hunting season in Texas begins on Sep. 1.
The main hunting season will run through January 2018. Residents are advised they may hear an increased volume of weapons firing during the hunting season.
Residents who witness weapon safety violations by hunters should report their concerns to the Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Police at (254) 287-4001.
The Sportsmen’s Center is Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos)’s hunting and fishing headquarters. Located at Bldg. 1937 Rod & Gun Club Loop off of Murphy Road. They offer Texas Super Combo License (hunting & fishing) to qualified Soldiers at no cost; Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) permit fees still apply, though. All hunters regardless of age must show proof of a hunter education certification to qualify for a Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) hunting permit.
