FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — At approximately 2 p.m. July 26, Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) emergency services personnel responded to four wild-land fires in the training area complex. Two of the fires are fully contained. A third, small fire is still active but difficult to get to with fire fighter personnel. Fire fighters are working to contain the fourth fire which is estimated to involve approximately 100 acres.
Directorate of Public Works crews are moving forward to cut some temporary fire breaks.
The fire is producing a large volume of smoke, but no facilities or infrastructure are threatened at this time.
Additionally, EMS has requested aviation assets to support the firefighting efforts and a cease fire of all ranges.
There is no danger to the public.
