FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) has been designated a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Support Base.
Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) officials are in the planning phase for support of several recent FEMA requests. When finalized, details of these requests will be released.
Over the weekend, the 106th Rescue Wing from the New York Air National Guard staged one C-130 and three Pave Hawk HH-60 helicopters at Robert Gray Army Airfield. They will eventually have 106 personnel including 24 para-rescue airmen on station. The unit began flying search-and-rescue mission Aug. 28.
