FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Fort Cavazos emergency response officials will conduct an annual Full-Scale Exercise (FSE) from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7-8 at various locations on post including near the Shoemaker Building.
During the exercise, installation first responders in conjunction with local external law enforcement, fire departments and hospitals will practice reacting to a real-world scenario to test their ability to respond and recover from a major disaster or incident.
The impact to routine traffic on the installation should be minimal during the exercise, but some traffic control measures may be implemented in the vicinity of the exercise incident sites which may result in short delays.
In addition to emergency response vehicles and personnel, visual or audio effects may be seen or heard. Fort Cavazos Soldiers serving as role players may be seen leaving post in emergency vehicles imitating casualties with mock injuries and wounds cosmetically engineered to convey a realistic appearance. Emergency response vehicles will be transporting these Soldiers to area hospital emergency rooms.
In the event of an actual emergency, exercise play will immediately halt, and emergency personnel will respond accordingly.
Media who wish to cover the exercise should call (254) 449-5298 by 3 p.m. May 3 and meet the Public Affairs escort at 7 a.m. May 7 in the south-side parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitors and Welcome Center.
