FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — The first flight of 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division Soldiers is scheduled to return this weekend from the Republic of Korea.
A welcome home ceremony is scheduled for 3 a.m. Sunday morning on Cooper Field here.
Blackjack Troopers are returning to Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) after a nine- month rotation on the Korean peninsula, where they worked and trained side-by-side with their Republic of Korea Army counterparts.
Their mission there was threefold: to deter North Korean aggression, increase combat readiness, and strengthen the U.S. and Republic of Korea alliance.
