FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive Oct. 18 at his off-post residence in Copperas Cove, Texas.
Spc. Luke Hampton Toomey, 21, whose home of record is listed as Lakeland, Tennesee, entered active-duty service in May 2015 as an infantryman. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos), since February 2017.
Toomey’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.
