FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) officials have released the name of a Soldier who was pronounced deceased Oct. 16 at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center due to injuries suffered on Oct. 14 while swimming with friends in Mansfield, Texas.
Sgt. Sameer Chalise, 28, whose home of record is listed as Alpharetta, Georgia, entered active-duty service in January 2015 as a unit supply specialist. He was assigned to the Replacement Detachment, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas, since October 2017.
Chalise’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
