FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — Five Soldiers and five noncommissioned officers from III Corps units across the United States braved sweltering temperatures while competing in the Best Warrior Competition at Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas. On day three, troops retrieved magazines for the qualification section, by participating in a series of exercises meant to induce stress and cause fatigue before returning to the firing line. They also demonstrated their knowledge and familiarity by facing written tests on the M240B and M249 weapons systems and disassembling/reassembling the weapons in a timed event.
