FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center is proud to welcome its newest—and furriest—teammate during a commissioning ceremony June 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the hospital atrium.
Solomon, a 2 ½-year-old black labrador retriever, is serving as CRDAMC’s official facility dog. He joins CRDAMC with a mission to bring comfort, wellness and joy to its team and community.
Recognized for his calm demeanor, emotional intelligence and strong people skills, Solomon was selected for a unique role as a facility dog.
“Facility dogs like Solomon bring more than smiles—they provide therapeutic benefits that can reduce stress, boost morale, and improve overall mental health,” said Col. Garrick Cramer, CRDAMC Commander. “We are honored to have Solomon as part of our team.”
Solomon completed and excelled all of the training requirements at America’s VetDogs program, is trained in 36 commands and is already making a meaningful impact across the medical center. He plays a vital role in CRDAMC’s wellness initiatives, fostering a culture of compassion, connection and emotional support for staff, patients and families alike.

On the day of the event, media should arrive by 3 p.m. at the south-side parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitors Center to be escorted by a public affairs representative to the event site.
