The implementation of a new Automated Installation Entry system will begin Tuesday according to officials from Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos)’s Directorate of Emergency Services. The AIE equipment and its components have been undergoing testing to this point, and beginning Feb. 19, in-lane registration will begin at selected access control points for Department of Defense identification card holders.“The system has already been proven at places like Fort Bragg, (Fort) Carson and (Fort) Riley,” Dave Ross, the DES chief of Operations, Security and Access Control, said.What the AIE system does, Ross said, is leverage technology to increase security on the installation by verifying the identity of individuals entering and ensuring they meet Army-approved access standards against FBI and other authoritative databases, while also validating DoD credentials presented through DEERS.
