Army Best Medic Competition to be held at Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos)

FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas – The 2022 Command Sgt. Maj. Jack L. Clark, Jr. U.S. Army Best Medic Competition will be conducted Jan. 24-28 at Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas.

This event is a two-Soldier team competition that physically and intellectually challenges the Army’s best medics in a multi-day demanding, continuous, and realistic simulated operational environment.

This challenging event is open to all active duty, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve medical soldiers who have earned the competitive Combat Medical Badge or Expert Field Medical Badge.

The Command Sgt. Maj. Jack L. Clark, Jr. Army Best Medic Competition is dedicated to the 13th Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Medical Command. Clark was one of the most respected leaders and noncommissioned officers in the history of the command who understood the important role of medics in the Army and the trust Soldiers and leaders of units in combat must have in the Army Medical Department.

Due to COVID-19 and this event being secured for safety concerns, interested media will not be allowed to access the competition but will be able to attend the award ceremony on Jan. 28. At the end of the competition, the winning team will be recognized during an awards ceremony at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 on Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos).

Media desiring to attend the ABMC awards ceremony must register by contacting Maj. Jo Nederhoed at (231) 920-0223 no later than noon Jan. 27. On Jan. 28, a public affairs representative will meet the media at the south parking lot of Marvin Leath Visitors Center located on T. J. Mills Blvd. at 10 a.m. for an escort to the ABMC ceremony.
