FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), Texas — The 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command will host a capabilities exercise (CAPEX) at 8 a.m. Jan. 12 at the underground training facility on West Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos).

During the CAPEX, a nuclear disablement team, an explosive ordnance disposal team and a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Response Team (CRT) will conduct demonstrations. A CBRN platoon will also conduct a demonstration of a decontamination line during the CAPEX.

In addition to the demonstrations, the CRT and the 1st Area Medical Laboratory will have static displays including an M1135 Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, Radiological Vehicle (NBCRV).

Members of the media who wish to cover this event will witness the command’s specialized skill sets in support of its enduring mission requirements to Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.

The 20th CBRNE Command is a one-of-a-kind formation that commands CBRN, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and other specialized units. The command comprises 85 percent of the Active Army’s EOD and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Units.
