FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), TX — The 1st Cavalry Division colors will be uncased in a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. on Cooper Field here.
Maj. Gen. John C. Thomson, III and Command Sgt. Maj. Maurice Jackson will perform the honors signifying the division headquarters’ official return from Afghanistan.
The 1st Cavalry Division headquarters served in Afghanistan during their yearlong deployment at the United States Forces – Afghanistan, Nation Support Element headquarters located at Bagram Airfield. There they supported U.S. troops with logistics, contracting, medical care, and ensuring Train, Advise, Assist Commands had what was needed to complete their missions.
