FORT CAVAZOS – The 1st Cavalry Division will formally uncase its unit colors at a ceremony on Cooper Field at 1 p.m. on March 27, 2025, after the completion of its 9-month rotation to Europe
Redeploying units along with their command teams and unit colors will take the field in front of friends, family and military leaders from across Fort Cavazos. This brief but traditional ceremony will showcase the Division headquarters, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “IRONHORSE”, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade “AIR CAV”, Division Artillery Brigade “RED TEAM” and 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade “WAGON MASTERS,” uncasing their unit colors and streamers to formally complete their mission.
The four brigades and division headquarters deployed last spring in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The division fell under V Corps while in Europe and their mission was to reinforce, assure and deter in corroboration with our allies and partners along NATO’s eastern flank. During this rotation the division expanded our area of responsibility from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland to include Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria.
Over 6,000 Division troops and 10,000 pieces of equipment deployed to eight different countries ranging from the Baltics to the Black Sea. 1st Cavalry Division took part in numerous joint and multinational training exercises that helped to maintain the strength between the US and NATO allies and partners.
Media is invited to attend uncasing ceremony at Fort Cavazos and may contact the public affairs office for interview opportunities. If planning to attend, please RSVP no later than March 25th. Media will meet at 12:15 p.m. at the Fort Cavazos Visitor Center media staging area to be escorted to the ceremony.
