FORT CAVAZOS, TX – The 1st Cavalry Division plans to host their 102nd Birthday Celebration week, Sept. 11-15, on Fort Cavazos.
The “First Team” celebrates its proud history and legacy of service to our nation beginning in September 13, 1921.
The week begins with Division-led sporting and shooting competitions to build fit and ready teams running Sept.11 until Sept. 14. The Division will host a “First Team” wide run at Fort Cavazos and cut the Cav’s birthday cake on Sept. 13.
The week will culminate on Friday with the 1st Cavalry Division Birthday Ceremony and Family Day. The “First Team” will host over 200 local students and 150 veterans, connecting the public with current and former Troopers. Tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and other various warfighting equipment are scheduled to be on display, with multiple local food vendors present.
The Friday ceremony will end with a concert by the 1st Cavalry Division Rock Band and a “Movie on the Lawn,” playing of Super Mario Bros.
For media, 1st Cavalry Division Public Affairs will release imagery and stories throughout the week, and opportunities to speak to 1st Cavalry Division Soldiers, Veterans, and other personnel can be planned.
