FORT HOOD (Now designated Fort Cavazos), TX — Troopers of the 1st Cavalry Division are scheduled to celebrate the division’s 96th birthday Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m. at the 1st Cavalry Division Museum here.
Military and civic leaders from Central Texas, to include Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) Good Neighbors, will be in attendance.
The ceremony will consist of the playing of the National Anthem, a reading of the 1st Cavalry Division history, remarks from the division commanding general, remarks by guest speaker, Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Phil Jondrow, and the traditional cake cutting performed by the oldest and youngest Soldiers in the division.
The 1st Cavalry Division Honor Guard and 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment will also be at the ceremony and will be available for photographs.
