The general and his family have a long history with Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) and the other units assigned to III Corps, including assignments to Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Fort Riley, Kansas. The Funks look forward to continuing the long-standing partnerships and relationships with neighboring communities that make Fort Hood (Now designated Fort Cavazos) and other Army installations great places to work and live.
Upon completion of the exercise April 12, Funk will be promoted to lieutenant general and will receive the III Corps colors from outgoing commander Lt. Gen. Sean B. MacFarland. Details on the formal ceremonies in mid-April will be published in a subsequent release.
